The place to be. We are cranking out the excitement at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede this year.

The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede is steeped in tradition and remains true to its roots of western heritage while embracing excitement here in the city. Whether your family has been here for generations or your family has just moved here, we welcome you to enjoy the many Stampede events.

The Farmers’ Market takes place in the Cypress Centre every Saturday from 9am until 1pm starting May 19 until October 6. “Make It, Bake It, Grow It, Sell It!” is the theme for the market which features all sorts of fresh produce, bakery items, crafts, jewelry and so much more.

WPCA Chuckwagons go thundering down The ½ Mile of Hell June 14-17, it is a hair-raising good time, with many of your favourite drivers back to challenge each other for the Medicine Hat winner’s title!

Mark your calendar for the annual Exhibition and Stampede held July 25-28. Our fabulous festival celebrates Western Heritage and Values and has been celebrated in Medicine Hat since 1887, making it one of Alberta’s oldest events!

The Stampede kicks off with a Western Dance on July 14 complete with live entertainment plus the crowning of the Stampede Queen and Princess.

The All-Breed Horse Show takes place over three days that feature a variety of show classes. Horse lovers gather July 20 to 22 in the Grandstand to showcase their equine skills.

Mark your calendars for July 23 when the Stampede Summer Jam takes the stage! Local musicians will put on a show like no other, right here on the Stampede grounds!

July 26 is the annual parade! Watch the brightly animated floats, colorful costumes, horses of all breeds, and marching bands from near and far as they travel through Medicine Hat.

Get set for big thrills as you take in the Summer Pro Rodeo! Showcasing bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing! This event always promises exhilarating entertainment, with quality Kesler Champion Rodeo stock and both CPRA & PRCA participants, thrilling action over three days during the Stampede.

Don’t miss the exciting atmosphere of West Coast Amusements on the Stampede grounds, an old family tradition enjoyed by the whole family from six to sixty! There are carnival games, the Cactus Saloon, Beer Gardens, Petting Zoo, Agricultural displays, Photography, Arts & Crafts displays, Free Entertainment on three stages and so much more! Visit Country in the City, which offers demonstrations daily. Little wranglers will love getting up close and personal at the petting zoo. Take a stroll through beautiful Pioneer Village and engage in some great conversation with interpreters about days gone by!

The Ranch Horse competition and sale is Friday July 26, showcasing ranch etiquette of our equine friends.

Methanex Kiddies Day happens Friday July 26 , children 12 & under get in free from noon until 3pm. Featuring face painting, scavenger hunts, bouncy castles and fun activities for children. There will be so many shining smiles and laughter in Pioneer Village.

Each year the Stampede Night Shows features some of the best national and international entertainers in the business.  Wild West Wednesday with Corb Lund and High Valley July 25, Country Music legend, Tanya Tucker on July 26 and Huey Lewis and the News is Saturday, July 28. The Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede is a great time for everyone, capped off by fireworks every night!

Our Annual Christmas Market happens in the Cypress Centre November 9 and 10. Come visit all your favourite Farmers’ Market vendors plus pick up some delicious baking and search for the perfect gift for those on your list!

Santa comes to town during the Enerplus Olde Tyme Christmas Fair and Christmas Farmers’ Market on December 6, including hot dogs, hot chocolate and wholesome family fun! The Market runs from 4 until 9 in the Cypress Centre Auditorium and the Fair is in historic Pioneer Village from 5 until 8.

Our annual livestock show is December 14 and 15 – the Beef Pen Show & Cowboy Christmas Tradeshow is growing! You’ll get a chance to come out and see Commercial and Purebred breeders show off their best!
