Charity Bike Ride and Kids Fun Run is coming up, registrations now open

The 5th Annual Charity Bike Ride is returning to Lethbridge, this time with a fun addition for families.

Dr. Bryan Murray of the Able Dental Group, his dental team and the University of Lethbridge Recreation Services are partnering to host the Charity Bike Ride with a Kids Fun Run on June 15. Last year the riders raised $40,000 for charity. Funds raised for the upcoming ride will be divided between the Lethbridge School District #51 Poverty Prevention Program and the Lethbridge Association for Community Living.

Riders get up bright and early at 5:30 a.m. to load their bikes onto semi trucks and themselves on busses to head out to the Alberta/British Columbia border. Once dropped off, they ride home to a celebration in Galt Gardens in downtown Lethbridge. While families wait to cheer on their riders, they can partake in the Kids Fun Run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Galt Gardens. Children aged five to 13 can participate in 3km and 5km runs.

The day rounds out with a kids carnival, BBQ and live bands from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while families and friends gear up to cheer on their riders. (Riders start to arrive around 1 p.m.)HAM Radio operators, who are assisting with communications along the bike ride route, will also give children the opportunity to contact people around the world through amature radio.

Registration is now open for riders; Able Dental Group is looking for 100 riders and 100 children for the Fun Run. Donations are accepted online at or can be made at the BBQ on June 15.
