They are willing to work with other groups, even going so far as to cancel operations one day when the fire fighters were hosting a fundraiser to encourage others to purchase from the firefighters and not themselves. They are well liked and respected in the community.

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR: Joe Orban
Joe has been a resident of Taber for 68 years, arriving with his parents in 1949. He remembers being served a hot dog at our community centre ice arena by a Lions Club member way back then. From that time on Joe has been at the rink either as a coach, on the hockey board or sharpening skates for our Taber youngsters. He's been with the Taber Lions CLub for over 40 years serving many hot dogs. Close to 5 decades, Joe operated his business JCST Sports in Taber until he retired from business in 2006. As his nominee states "It's impossible to list all the things Joe has accomplished but he never stops accomplishing something every year. He volunteers for the Lions Club, Taber Legion, Clearview Lodge, Parkside Manor and the list goes on. He will help out any group organization in Taber, all you have to do is ask him and he is there for you. It's impossible to list all his quiet acts of kindness, he definitely deserves this outstanding award".

They have been actively involved with Midnight Madness for about 4 years now, offering free bowling that evening as well as donating a door prize.
